Built in 1886 on the site of the former Bay State Mills (the first textile mill in Lawrence, MA) and the former home of American Woolen Co., Washington Mills Building No. 1 was converted into 155 Loft-Style Apartments. The adaptive re-use of this 240,000-square-foot building earned owner Architectural Heritage Foundation the 2008 National Preservation Honor Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the 2012 Paul E. Tsongas Award from Preservation Massachusetts. Universal’s 400 Series were the perfect solution to authentically replicate the windows of that era.
