Gardner, MA The Lofts at 30 Pine, the sole recipient of the Preservation Massachusetts Mayor Thomas M. Menino Legacy Award in 2016, is the fourth phase of a 35-year effort to transform one of the world’s largest furniture factories into housing units. The former Heywood-Wakefield furniture factory has been converted into contemporary apartment homes – all of which have been designated as affordable – with 55 completed during this phase. Universal Door and Window provided over 300 Series 400 Double-Hung Series 400 Fixed windows for the project, which meet the exacting standards of the National Park Service. The Lofts at 30 Pine is listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the NPS.
