What is your standard paint?
We offer a baked acrylic, AAMA 2603, painted finish as our standard paint. We can also supply AAMA 2604 and 2605 painted finishes, in 50% and 70% PVDF Kynar©, respectively. For our 600 series windows, in addition to our standard finishes, we also offer both clear and bronze anodized. Our standard colors can be found here. We can also provide a custom color match.
Do you install?
No. We are a manufacturer only. We do work closely with our clients on design to meet architectural details, as well as to simplify orders for production and installation. We work to get the small details correct, whether it’s aligning the grids across multiple opening of a mill, or combining the correct panning shapes to match historic profiles. We rely on our dealers and distributors, mostly glazing contractors, to work with general contractors and building owners to ensure a successful installation. We also offer factory attached panning, greatly reducing the required field labor.
Do your products meet strict NPS guidelines?
We have provided the windows for many award-winning NPS projects. We work hard to replicate the look and feel of historic properties using modern materials that provide added value, energy savings, and increased longevity.
Can I get an egress window?
Yes. Building codes vary, but we have successfully provided windows meeting egress requirements in the past.
What are your screen options?
We have exterior, full and half screens, as well as interior screens. Interior screens are available with wickets for our cam handle operated projected windows. Roto operators are available as well. In addition to standard insect screens, we also offer heavy duty security and vandal screens.
Do you offer other glass options?
Our standard glazing is insulated with a warm-edge spacer and an energy saving low-e coating. We also offer spandrel, obscure, and insulated metal panel glazing. Other glass is also available, contact us for details. Most windows leave our factory fully glazed.
Do you have a receptor system?
We do have a receptor system, as well as multiple methods of installation to fit varying site conditions.
Do you furnish curtainwall and storefront?
We do not.
Do you work directly with contractors or architects?
We rely on our dealers and distributors (principally installers and glazing contractors) to bring our products to market. We do work hand in hand with architects to realize their design intent on many different kinds of projects. We are unmatched in our ability to provide custom shapes and panning profiles to recreate existing glazing details or to realize the design intent on a challenging project.
Do you offer a fire rated aluminum window?
No. Our products are not fire rated.
Do you offer vandal, security, or child guard screens?
Yes, we can provide heavy duty, stainless steel, security screens.
Why are you called Universal Window and Door when you do not manufacture doors?
We have been in business for over 35 years, and we once manufactured doors and storm windows, as well as other aluminum products. We no longer offer these products. We can, however, supply aluminum terrace doors and patio sliders that work well with our window products.
