Historical Applications
Universal Window and Door has specialized in the development of an impressive line of modified and custom products designed to satisfy the demanding requirements of the Historical Market in applications where the original look of wood or steel windows needs to be maintained.
We provide minimal sight lines with the structural strength of aluminum, while offering multiple grid profiles which authentically reproduce the original look of old window putty lines. TrueWARM® warm-edge Technology assures unprecedented energy savings through the use of new, low transmission materials at the critical edge seal area of multi-layer glass. Universal offers a full 15 year warranty on this patented, innovative process. Custom built mouldings and colors complete an historic restoration.
Such applications incorporate the refurbishment of historic landmark buildings, mills, navy yards, universities, public buildings and brownstone townhouses. Styles include single and double hung, awning (tilt-out), casement and fixed window types.
By concentrating on the unique demands of the Historical Market, we have engineered and developed a line that has been approved by the National Park Service, and is being accepted by Historical Societies that exist in virtually every city and town, including the Boston and New York Landmark Commissions.
